DETAILS:

An armed carjacking of a Ford Explorer was reported at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday in the Southwinds neighborhood of Oxnard near Cuesta Del Mar Drive and Perkins Road.

A short time after, patrol officers spotted the stolen SUV on Clara Street and arrested one of the alleged carjackers, Esgardo Vasquez, 19, of Oxnard. A second suspect remains at large.

On Monday, May 13, 2019, at around 8 p.m. officers from the department’s special enforcement unit contacted a known gang member seen riding his bicycle at night without a light in the area of First Street and Eliza Court. The man, Oxnard resident Jose Salazar, 24, is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Officers found a loaded a 9mm-caliber handgun and heroin in Salazar’s possession. He was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possessing a firearm with a prior violent offense, carrying a loaded firearm and being a person prohibited from carrying a firearm, and possessing a controlled substance with a firearm.

On May 7, at 5:45 p.m., officers from the Special Enforcement Unit (gang unit) conducted a probation search in the 1100 of Colonia Road for a 17 year old Oxnard resident that is a documented criminal street gang member and on probation for firearms violations prohibiting him from possession a firearm. As officers attempted contact with the occupants of the residence, they encountered Erica Jimenez (mother of the 17 year old probationer) at the front door. Jimenez became very argumentative, and began to refuse entry of the officers to conduct the probation search. As officers attempted to gain access to the residence for the probation search, additional officers outside saw a subject, identified as documented criminal street gang member Eric Soto, fleeing out a rear second story window. During the time that officers encountered Soto, the 17 year old probationer came to the front door and began to threaten officers by saying that he was going to kill them.

Officers were able to take Jimenez and the 17 year old into custody for obstructing and delaying peace officers, and resisting an executive officer. Soto was found to be a Parolee at Large, and to have a felony warrant for his arrest. Soto was arrested without further incident after officers safely removed him from the roof of the residence.

During the probation search of the residence, a loaded .22 caliber revolver was located in a bedroom of the residence. The 17 year old was additional charged with numerous firearms violations.

On 4/22/2019, Oxnard police officers located an occupied stolen vehicle in the Wal Mart shopping center in the 2000 block of North Rose Ave. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop and the suspect vehicle failed to yield and was pursued through several neighborhoods in North Oxnard. Suspect Belmontes fled from the stolen vehicle on foot in the area of Orchard Place and Oxnard Blvd. After a lengthy foot pursuit, suspect Belmontes was ultimately located trying to gain access into a residence in the 400 block of Raspberry Place. Belmontes was arrested for felony evading, driving a stolen vehicle, and various narcotics related charges.

On April 22, at 3:35 p.m., officers from the Special Enforcement Unit (gang unit) observed several individuals loitering at the 2700 block of El Dorado Avenue that are known to be documented criminal street gang members, just after a call of a shooting victim was reported in the immediate area. The officers contacted the subjects, and found that one of the individuals, a 17 year-old Oxnard resident, was in possession of .22 caliber ammunition.

The officers conducted a search of the immediate area around the subjects, and located a loaded .22 caliber sawed-off bolt action rifle concealed in nearby bushes with a bag of numerous Xanax pills. The 17 year-old was ultimately arrested for numerous charges relating to firearms possession and narcotics.

On April 14, at approximately 5:00 p.m., officers from the Special Enforcement Unit (Gang Unit) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. The vehicle stopped in the 5200 block of Saviers Rd. Jerome Senin, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, was unable to provide proper documentation to operate a motor vehicle. Senin consented to a search of his vehicle and during that search, officers’ located methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a 40 cal. Handgun with ammunition. Senin was arrested for carrying a loaded firearm in his vehicle, possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On April 14, at approximately 8:00 p.m., officers from the Special Enforcement Unit (Gang Unit) conducted a probation search of a subject stemming from an earlier traffic stop in the city of Oxnard where upon the driver was arrested for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. The subject involved in the stop and arrest was identified as Agustine Ruelas. Ruelas is on active probation and subject to the search of his person or residence. He is also a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing any firearms or ammunition. During the search of his personal belongings at his residence, officers located a bolt action 410 gauge shotgun. Ruelas was additionally charged with being a convicted felon in control of a firearm.

Christopher Lopez, 17, of Oxnard was reported missing Wednesday at around 7:00 p.m. from the 100-block of S. Marquita Street in Oxnard.

Lopez has the mental capacity of a seven year old child due to a disorder.

The family is making a plea for the public’s assistance in finding Lopez.

Lopez is described as being 5’2” tall and weighing about 130 pounds.

He has black hair and brown eyes and a scar on his left forearm.

On March 26, at approximately 6:00 p.m., officers from the Special Enforcement Unit (gang unit) conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the 100 block of Carmelita Court reference a vehicle code infraction. Upon making contact with the driver, Eric Madrid, officers observed in plain view narcotics from inside the vehicle. Further investigation yielded a 9mm handgun, ammunition and additional narcotics for sales.

Madrid is a documented criminal street gang member. Further, he is a convicted felon and is prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm or ammunition. Madrid was arrested for multiple felonies that include selling and transporting controlled substances, removing the manufacturer’s number from a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm and being in possession of a firearm with a controlled substance.

On March 19, 2019, at 11:06 p.m., a woman reported a domestic dispute with shots fired into the air.

The 9-1-1 caller told dispatchers the man involved in the altercation was her ex-boyfriend, Christian Robledo, 26-years-old from Oxnard. She said he rammed her car and had driven off in a white Toyota Camry.

Offices caught up with the suspect on Rose Avenue and Ives Avenue and tried to pull him over. The man refused to yield, instead continuing on Rose Avenue to eastbound Wooley Road.

The suspect proceeded to lead the pursuing officers onto Rice Avenue before crashing into a parked car on Santa Clara Avenue and Eucalyptus Drive. The fleeing man and his passenger, got out of the car and bolted. Offices chased after them. The passenger was taken into custody without incident and arrested on misdemeanor obstruction charges. Robledo fought with officers who used the Taser to take him into custody.

Robledo was charged with evading officers, hit and run, driving under the influence of alcohol and drug and weapon offenses.
