DETAILS:
On October 29, 2017, at approximately 0345 hours, officers from the Oxnard Police Department were dispatched to a commercial burglary in the 800 block of South Ventura Road. An alert citizen saw the suspect preparing to break the front window of the gas station mini-market with a bat and provided police dispatchers with a description of the suspect.
Responding officers arrived moments later and detained Jose Cendejas, a 35-year-old Oxnard resident, who was fleeing from the business with three cases of beer. Officers confirmed that a burglary had occurred and used video footage to identify Cendejas as the suspect. Cendejas was booked into Ventura County Jail for the commercial burglary. The property was later returned to the business.
