On September 9, 2020, the Oxnard Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) concluded a narcotics sales investigation regarding Gabriel Fernandez, a 23 year old Oxnard resident, selling Fentanyl in the City of Oxnard. During the investigation, Detectives authored and obtained a search warrant for Fernandez and his residence. With the assistance of Oxnard Patrol Officers, DEU Detectives conducted a traffic stop on Fernandez and served a search warrant at his residence. Officer located two bags containing fentanyl on his person at the traffic stop.
During a search of Fernandez’ residence, detectives located Fentanyl, scales, and US Currency consistent with street level drug sales. The amount of Fentanyl located in Fernandez’ possession could have caused over 7,000 potentially fatal overdoses. Fernandez was charged with possession for sales of Fentanyl and transportation of Fentanyl, both felonies. Fernandez was booked into jail with a bail request of $350,000. Additionally, Detectives seized a large quantity of dangerous mortar fireworks.
